How to Consign with Us

Getting cash for your impeccable sense of style isn’t the only benefit of becoming a consignor! Consigning clothing in excellent condition is a great way to practice sustainable lifestyle habits by extending the life of your garments and keeping them out of landfills. Consign with us at Persimmon to declutter your closet, support a local business, and help other fabulous shoppers like yourself develop their unique sense of style.

  • Getting Started

It's easy! Just come by any time during store hours and bring your best women's clothing, jewelry, shoes, handbags, and accessories. Bring up to 30 pieces of clothing, costume jewelry, or accessories, and/or an unlimited number of handbags, shoes, and designer or fine jewelry.

  • The Process

Your items will be selected and priced by staff based on a variety of criteria. They will be on sale at Persimmon for a minimum of 63 days (or two full months) at full price, and then will be included in one of our quarterly sales. Items DO NOT expire, but we will do what we need to get them sold!

  • The Payout

When your items sell, you'll get a percentage of the sale price based on the sale price of the item, between 30-70%. For payments less than $50, we’ll pay you in cash. For any amount over $50, we will pay you via check. Consignors can look up their balance online at any time and come in to shop or collect payment.

Consignor Q&A

Is there anything you DON’T accept?

While we do accept a wide variety of women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories, there is a small group of items we do not accept, or that we only rarely accept, simply because we have seen that these items don't sell well for us. Please contact us if you have questions about specific brands.

This includes:
• Traditional professional office wear (suits, unless they can be sold as separates) - sometimes
• Used swimsuits, intimates or pajamas (including socks, tights, undergarments) - never
• Wedding gowns and other formalwear - sometimes
• Locally-available big-box brands from Walmart, Kohls, Target (some exceptions might be made) - rarely
• Fast fashion brands like Amazon, Shein, and others. - rarely

Other Considerations
We will accept high-end costume jewelry that uses non-precious metals and stones (Brighton is a good example), but we prefer sterling silver, gold, and other non-reactive materials like fabric, thread, wool, etc.

Swimsuits/socks/pajamas may be accepted ONLY if they are brand-new in the packaging.

What condition should my items be in?

Items should be in excellent like-new condition. We have high standards for what we’ll take, so be sure to pre-screen your items and do your best to ensure they are in ready-to-sell condition. We have provided a downloadable checklist for your convenience, but here are the highlights:

• Clothing/coats freshly laundered or dry cleaned as appropriate (check pockets), minimal wrinkles please
• No stains/odors, holes or tears, pills or pulls, broken zippers, missing buttons or other fasteners that affect the usability of the item
• Items with pet hair or smelling of smoke, moth balls, or mildew can not be accepted – NO EXCEPTIONS
• Clothing should be neatly folded in bins or boxes – NO BAGS PLEASE - lay items flat and minimally folded. You MAY hang items like coats and formal dresses, but everything else should be folded flat. Garments should be buttoned/zipped/fastened.
• Shoes must be paired together and cleaned inside and out
• Jewelry must be in good condition (minimal tarnish, no obvious flaws), untangled, and earrings must be in pairs
• Download our consignment checklist to help you get the best success for your consignments!

How many items can I bring in?

We will review up to 30 items of clothing, accessories, and costume jewelry per consignment. We will review unlimited consignments of handbags, shoes, and fine jewelry.

If we cannot review all items while you wait, we will ask you to return upon being notified of our completion of review.

High-end designer items that require authentication or research will take more time, and we will contact you when that process is completed.

What other information should I keep in mind?

• High-value couture items: We try our best to ensure that all items being sold are what they claim to be. We will NEVER sell items we know or suspect to be counterfeit, even labeled as such. If you wish to consign a high-value item with Persimmon (over $500) we will require authentication of that item via a third party before we agree to accept an item. The cost for doing that is $20 which must be paid to us up front, and which will be refunded if/when we are able to sell your item for you.

• Watches: We expect all consigned watches to have batteries and be working at the time of consignment.
